FOREST OF DEAN SPRING CLASSIC 2008

FINAL INSTRUCTIONS

Welcome to the 3rd running of this early Season Classic, and Thank you for entering

This year we are offering several new features including a "Pasta Party" for the entrants signing on Saturday afternoon.  This will take place in the trade village on Chippenham Fields between 18:30 – 19:30.  However we will need to know numbers, so we would appreciate if you could email us by return if you wish to attend.

Another new addition to this year's event is a new bike and rider numbering system, the bike number is for the photographer and the rear race style number is for your safety, so please complete the reverse in full.

No Number - No Ride

We are also operating a new timing system, so please take time at signing on to familarise yourselves with its working and please keep your timing/route cards safe.

For those entrants who request their times, these details will be available on the website.

This year, Wheels in Wheels Cycle Club are raising funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care Charity, for which you have all generously donated £1.00 from your entry fee, which we have matched, and our aim is to raise £2000.00 from this and the Archer GP Chiltern Classic on May 18th.

We are holding a raffle and each goodie bag has one free ticket as part of your entry fee, but we would appreciate if you could buy or sell some more, as this is a really good cause.

First prize is a week for two on the lovely cycling island of Majorca next year 2009 including free entry to our Duva International Sportive (Airfare will not be included).  There are also many other prizes and the draw will be made on the 24th May and the winners will be published on the website, and contacted by post.

Please note it is not possible to transfer an entry form from one person to another, as the ride insurance will not be valid, and signing an incorrect name could constitute fraud.

A sportive is not a race and we advise a safety helmet is worn throughout the event

SUNDAY MAY 4th

Wheels in Wheels CC welcome you to the Third edition of this classic early season sportive, starting and finishing in the beautiful historic town of Monmouth.

We are pleased to announce that Sports Tours International have agreed to continue their support and the continental and family friendly feel of the event will be enhanced by the additional of a Pasta Party in the Trade Village on Saturday 3rd May as well as various support events over the weekend – keep an eye on this site as we announce the exciting additions over the coming months!

The route will remain the same as 2007 with no additional climbs. We hope the 85 mile route and 8000ft of climbs will be enough to test early season fitness. The course design offers varied climbs from 3 milers to 25% walls. We believe this event is essential training for the continental etapes later in the season and if your fitness should let you down the route is never more than 20 miles from the start. The route design offers newcomers the opportunity to try a Classic Sportive with out too much pressure.

Enter early as numbers are restricted are restricted to 750 riders.
